Last week in November - Gosh!

We still have a rose bravely flowering, which is nice considering how awful the weather is at the moment. A little bit of colour and brightness to light up the grey fog that seems to surround me at the moment.

I am working on my clearing, sorting and paying off still, albeit very slowly having been waylaid slightly by, first my surprise trip to Paris and secondly by the dreaded lurgy that struck me a few days after my return.   Hopefully on the mend now, just need to find some oompf!  I think I used up all my energy stores on my weekend away.

I have listed another 16 or so items on Evilbay last night so hoping they will sell and have a box of 'stuff' to take to the local CS.

I am joining in again this year with Floss and her 'A Pause in Advent' which starts next weekend.  I think this will do me a world of good this year especially as we are hosting Christmas at our place for a change as my MIL is finding it more difficult to do.  Of course that also means I have to clear space for a dining table, as we cannot really all fit round our little kitchen table comfortably!  Hopefully the thought of this will inspire me and give me some of that oompf I keep looking for.

DS1 is doing very well at his cadetship course and has passed all of his exams with flying colours so we are really proud and pleased for him.  The next few weeks he is working on all his short practical courses such as first aid, fire fighting etc...

It is strange the things that suddenly fly past you as you are typing on the computer!  This must be a first...

Yes that is right, a butterfly...now how often do you see these in late November I wonder?  Not sure how it got inside the house.

A Rose in November

As I went out the front door this morning I noticed that one of the roses had come out in bloom.  Just the one rose, but so pretty.  I took three pictures on different settlings.

The cherry tree leaves are turning and falling and the grass is a carpet of leaves, still a lot remaining on the tree though.

Live Without Pain - I am aiming to! Update.

This is my goal of course and I am still a long way off from it, but I am hopeful that I may have found a new way forward, and it is definitely worth a try.

Recently I have been seeing someone who perhaps would be known as an Alternative Practitioner.  He is the son of my Dad's old business partner and used to practice in this country although has recently emigrated to Australia unfortunately.  However, it was suggested I see him while he was over here recently.  I was lucky enough to have three sessions with him, and of course I am not an easy case to sort out.

I first saw him on Monday 29th October and he spent a lot of time going over my history and examining me. He is a chiropractor and also uses Applied Kinesiology and Proprioceptive Medicine.  This means he looks at the body as a whole (in very simple terms) and not just the localized area of pain.

That first session he adjusted my neck.  Although I was very wary of having an chiropractic treatment, I felt confident that he knew what he was doing and also thought "well what have I got to lose?".  Well what a difference he made to me.  I have had neck and shoulder pains, stiffness, etc...since I saw a local Osteopath nearly two years ago now and have never been right since.  I immediately felt what I can only describe as a release, like something had wrong had been undone and put right.  The next morning for the first time in quite a few years I awoke without the customary aching and 'heavy cloak' across my neck and shoulders.  I thought that if this as indication of the progress I am going to make, well I was very pleased and encouraged indeed.  For the first time in years I was able to hold my clarinet for the 10 minutes practice sessions I have started, without my hand and arm starting to tremble.  I was very encouraged indeed.

I then saw him again three days later on 1st November.  This time he did a further manipulation and he said he was encouraged by the response to the first, as was I.  Unfortunately though this seemed to lead, later in the day and over the weekend to further back pain, particular in the left side/shoulder blades, which I can't really recall having before.  I felt a little discouraged, but thought that maybe it is just the muscles getting used to the difference.

My last appointment was Thursday 8th November.  He was surprised at the reaction I had had, and checked to make sure that everything was right in that area.  He felt it was, and also felt no further manipulation was needed, however in the course of testing my arm and various muscles he discovered that all my ligaments were inflamed.  Everywhere.  This was puzzling, but also explained why the slightest thing can set off pain, particular things involving the bones and muscles.

He asked me lots of questions such as:

Do you find it hard to stick at things, and feel un-motivated?
Do you cry easily? (I would if I wasn't on the meds)
Do you react badly to stress? (Yes if not on the meds)
Are you tired all the time?
Etc...

It is felt that I am suffering from Adrenal Fatigue and it has been suggested that I try the following treatment for at least six weeks.

Adrenal Support capsules - 4 a day
2 tsp Himalayan Salt a day
1 raw egg in a smoothy a day
Iodine Rescue - 1 a day.  (I think this one is to counteract the bad effects the drug medication I am taking)

Well certainly worth trying, as I have had no luck so far with other forms of treatment.  He also suggested that I try hard to go back to the Raw Foods diet, which I am trying to do.

So that is where I am up to now.  I have been taking the above tablets for three days now.  Hoping to start the eggs and salt tomorrow and the Raw Foods on Monday.  I need to plan and pace myself so that when I start I will stick to it.

It could of course be all Mumbo Jumbo, sounds like another way of saying I have Fibromyalgia on top of everything else, but I would far rather try a natural approach and feel more confident in this Doctor than I have with anyone else.

Another Update;  I am doing well with sorting out my debt and have less than a third to pay back now so will be hunting out some more things to list on Evilbay tomorrow!

A friend to stay - Windsor Castle trip

On Tuesday hubby took me and my friend Jill to Windsor Castle for the day.  We were lucky enough to arrive in time for the changing of the guards which was rather exciting.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day walking around this wonderful castle admiring the wonders both inside and out.

These gardens must look amazing in spring and summer.

Jill with her souvenirs

Queen Mary's Doll House was amazing, so much to look at that I bought the book in the end to bring home with me as we weren't allowed to take photographs.

We had an enjoyable late lunch in the afternoon before we set off home.

The three days and two nights Jill spent with me went far too quickly, it was such a shame she couldn't spend a few more days, but I am so glad we had the time we did.

A friend.

I've just had my best friend from New Zealand come to stay for a couple of days.  We had a day in London and a day at Windsor Castle.  I am going to miss her dearly, seeing her again after all these years reminded me of just how much I do miss her.

I feel sad now.

Popcorn has come home

Popcorn came home a few days ago.  Sadly his mate died and his owners decided they didn't want him any more and asked if I would take him back.  Well I couldn't say no, so now I have to decide which group of boys to house him with and hope that he gets on with them.  He will bring my numbers back up to 20 again.

Music Practise Update:

Day 4:  Had two days off as wasn't feeling the best and it is no good playing when you aren't up to it.
Today's 10 minutes went well. Still no trembling in the hand so that is a really good sign as before I couldn't even hold the clarinet for 10 minutes without my arm shaking.  No pain while playing, embouchure still needs to toughen up, but it has only been four days so far.

1st November - here already

Things to look forward to in November

My friend from NZ is coming to stay for a few days early next week!  We have known each other since our children were babies, over 21 years now.

Further healing of my pain. (I'm thinking positive here, even though feel quite sore at the moment, hoping it is just a glitch as I had treatment this morning)

Coming off medication and going back onto Raw Foods Diet.

Catching up with housework, clearing clutter and making crafts on my To Do list.

Continuing with clarinet practice.

Day Three:  Another 10 minutes today.  Easier than yesterday - embouchure not as worn out.  Not much pain.  Yeah!  Looking good.
