Taking Control of my Life

What do peas have to do with this post? Nothing, I just picked them this afternoon from the garden so took a photo of them.

Sometimes we just need to Take Control of our lives. What do I mean by this? Well for the past two and half years I have been muddling along, on medication, in pain and well most readers will know the rest of it. Last night while thinking...strange I've actually been doing some of that lately, I decided that while I was on no medication at all, and before starting the new drugs, that I would follow Jason Vale's 3 Day Detox. After all I had already made a tentative start along similar lines with my Raw Food diet.

Reminding myself of my favourite quote on my header 'Without Challenge, There is No Achievement', it is time to put that back into practice again. I have half heartedly started many different 'things' for wont of a better word over the last year or so, but been unable to stick to many of them for various reasons. Whilst I am not going to beat myself up if I don't find this current regime successful, at least I will know that I have tried. That is the important thing that I mustn't lose sight of. So bearing all that in mind I am embarking on a mission to 'Take Control of my Life'.

So with my notebook/journal last night I sat down and planned my first day on the '3 Day Super Juice Detox'.

I wrote up a list of six things that I wanted to do today, that I have felt bad about not doing, or that were important things to address. I achieved five out of six so feel that is a pretty good start.

I think that due to starting last week with almost a 'mini' detox, it hasn't been so bad today as my body is getting used to it. No headache today (had lots last week), and I have felt very positive and perhaps more 'alive' than I have felt in ages, if that makes sense. Funny because only yesterday I was telling my husband that I didn't feel any different since going on the diet. I do feel slightly tired now, but as we are having a quiet evening and I will be able to go to bed early, that is just fine.

I am also limiting my computer time, to first thing in the morning, when I drink my hot water and lemon, and again in the evening. The rest of the day the laptop will be closed!

So for a while my blog will focus on my journey and how I get on, so that I have something to look back at and reflect upon later. As it is so much easier for me to type at present rather than write by hand most of my thoughts will be on here rather than on paper.

I managed to complete a whole session of yoga this morning which is more than I have been able to for quite a few weeks now. Yes it did hurt, but it was bearable and I felt I'd achieved something at the end of the hour and a half.

I also had some more Bowen Therapy treatment this afternoon and we discussed various issues that she will address in the hope that it will benefit me. Very positive about what I was hoping to do and achieve as well with regards diet.

Anyway this is probably enough of my ramblings for today.

I'll leave you with a couple of photos I took this evening out in the garden.

Vegetables.

Lots of peas are coming on nicely, won't be long before they are ready.

The broccoli is doing well too.

Thank you all for your heartfelt comments. I phoned my Dad this morning to tell him and also to thank him again for taking me to see Playboy in March. So many lovely memories.

How does your garden grow?

Fabulous day today, sun shining, only a little bit of cloud every now and again. Spent some time in the garden, sowing seeds, planting out marigolds and petunias, watering and a bit of general weeding.

The robins were busy today collecting food for their young.

Rather a mouthful don't you think?

Waiting patiently for me to disappear before going to the nest!

The flowers are looking lovely.

Strawberries are growing.

A gooseberry

The vegetable garden is growing well.

30 Day Shred: Day two! I've actually managed to do two days in a row!! Every so slightly easier than yesterday :)

Terrific Tuesday

I've had a busy couple of days, cleaning out guinea pigs, clipping nails (and believe me with the number of guinea pigs I have, it does take some time!) I now have a little friend who comes to help me. She is nearly 15 and adores guinea pigs.

I've also been very busy watching birds! I sit in my chair armed with my camera and binoculars and try to get pictures of them. We've had a few new visitors and it was fun telling my Dad all about them over the phone yesterday. He is delighted that all his hard work paid off when I was young and that I adore nature as much as he does.

Whilst sitting, I also keep my hands busy doing some knitting...can't be shown yet though!

What you looking at?

I think this rather blurred photo is of a Bullfinch. I first saw it yesterday morning and managed to capture it on film early this morning.

Mr handsome Robin

Hmm...what is this?

Very regular visitors are the Blue Tits.

Oh look my first ripe tomato!

PIF Gifts...now packaged up and ready to take to the post office this afternoon.

Better and go and make that cuppa hubby asked for, oh about half an hour ago...

Working Wednesday.

Looks like Mr Carrot might have been caught short!

Busy day today, cleaning out guinea pigs, cleaning and sterilizing water bottles, gardening, preparing ingredients for fruit loaf, going to the library and more gardening!

Planted some more seeds in the garden...

Picked some produce to have with dinner this evening...yummy, first beans and courgette and our broccoli is still growing strong.

When I say 'and more gardening'...

I mean that I had DS1 out there with the lawn mower and then strimmer. :-)

Pretty honeysuckle...

My orchid is finally flowering again...

Oh and how did this pop in here?

A turquoise brooch £1.99 I bought the other day from a CS to add to my turquoise jewellery collection...now have a necklace, ring, earrings and brooch.

Yesterday morning just as I set off to work the postman handed me a parcel...goodness I had to be patient and wait until I got home to open it...who could it be from?

Partially ripped open, before I remembered...take photos!

A box of goodies from the lovely Helen...a couple of weeks ago I won her super Union Jack Giveaway celebrating her blogging for six months.

Lots of super lovely Union Jack goodies. Being ever so good I gave the chocolates to Mr 19 but have snaffled the rest for me!!! Thank you so much Helen for these lovely gifts.
