Posy RIP & Blue & White Dolls Quilt Finished

Sad news today, Posy died :-(   All her food from last night was eaten and I had no idea that this would happen today.

Very sad.

On another note, I finished the little dolls quilt today.

Saturday Quilting.

You may remember I showed this book the other day...it was a Christmas gift, if I remember rightly.

I'd chosen my next project.

I had the fabric that Melanie gave me in the FRIENDS swap.

I had my rotary cutter pouch to hand...again a FRIENDS swap gift from Melanie.

I measured and cut strips and squares.

Some left over pieces....

I matched light and dark and drew a diagonal line

Stitched 1/4 inch either side of the line

Cut in half

and then in half again along the diagonal

Sewed these halves together.

Matched them up into squares

Joined them all together...

Sewed a narrow dark border.

Next a wider border.

Now it is ready for the next stage, wadding/batting, back cover, quilting and then finally binding.

NZ Quilt finished, another quilt and my walk photos.

I finished binding my NZ quilt this afternoon - I am loving this, just wish I had some wall space to display it!

While finishing these quilts I realised that I never showed one I finished in 2010 for some reason.  I showed it as a work in progress.  This would be my first 'proper' quilt.

I took the photo this morning when it was really bright.  The quilt has been sitting folded up so has several creases in it.

I did various different quilting, from cross hatch, wavy lines and straight lines.

It was cold this morning but the sun was shining and I had an enjoyable walk in the park.

I was delighted to see a butterfly - surprised as well.  I think it is a Comma.

Fungi (and lichen) growing on a fallen log.

The underneath which reminds me a bit of pumice.

I was delighted to see this one, so bright and colourful and clear warning it is poisonous!  I believe it is called  Fly Agaric - Amanita muscaria

 I'm pretty sure these ones are the Common Puffball  Lycoperdon perlatum

I thought this looked a bit like a flying saucer!

Percy had fun, he met up with a couple of dogs again for a bit of a play before we continued on with  our walk.

Second Quilt Ta Daa!

This afternoon I popped over to John Lewis to get some fabric to make some binding for the next two quilts that need finishing.  I didn't expect to finish another one today, but I did this afternoon.  It sure feels good to see these quilts finally finished.  This one has been claimed by my husband...  He actually asked for it last year but the delay in being able to actually quilt it means he has had a long wait!  I have backed it with a navy blue fleece so it will be lovely and soft to snuggle under on cold evenings.

First of my UFO Quilts finished!

The patterning is slightly 'wrong' from what I originally intended...but hey ho, the colours are still great and with the fleece back it will keep me warm during the cooler months.

My younger son said it looked pretty good and had Christmas feel to it.  

Now onto finding/making some binding for the second UF Quilt.
