Only a couple of bird pictures today as I have been busy slaving away in my bedroom - sorting through drawers, the wardrobes and piles of clothes! I made a vow that I would only keep what I could keep in the cupboards and chest of drawers I had as it was getting ridiculous...one of the problems with getting your clothes from charity shops is that they are a lot cheaper and you can pick up some really good quality clothes for a real bargain...things that I could never normally afford to buy if bought from the 'branded' shops. Over the years it seems I have accumulated rather a lot and the question is ... how do you decide what to keep and what not to when you have been through the usual, "Do I wear it? Will I ever wear it? Does it fit? Is it looking dull and worn?" Part of the trouble is that our wardrobes are very small and we don't have a lot of storage space...the bane of my life! lol.
The birds were very active around the bird feeders this morning and I was delighted to see the little Coal Tit visiting again.

By late afternoon I was so sore having overdone it, especially reaching up into my wardrobe to hang clothes up - the rail is unusually high - that my arm and side were starting to hurt and burn badly so I thought it was time to call it quits...slightly worried about how we are going to get into bed tonight!
A book I ordered from Amazon yesterday arrived so with two heat packs position to relieve and relax the areas in pain I sat down in my chair overlooking the garden to read.
The book had mixed reviews, mostly good, but some comments were it wasn't as 'informative' as they would have liked and also they didn't feel it was aimed at beginners, which of course I am. However, I have to say that this didn't bother me as the book just looked so inspirational and wonderful to look at and read I felt it was worth the risk. I wasn't disappointed. I read the first 39 pages! So much beautiful and talented work, but some good ideas. I agree with what the author writes about title...being an Artist's Journal, rather than an Art Journal. This gives you ownership right from the start and is all about you being an Artist and your journey which is where the word journal originated from. Of course she says it much clearer than I have!
What better place to start than the book I have been using on and off for the last few years...albeit VERY intermittently with quite a few years where I haven't done anything. Having started drawing the birds I thought I would incorporate them into my journey into keeping my own artist's journal.
Today I thought I would try sketching a wing as described in the book that arrived yesterday and I also tried some heads.
Having a blank front page in this book I thought I might as well do a 'Title Page'
I won't show all of my pages, but I will probably show a few that take my fancy that I don't mind sharing.
