Lil' Ted & Benny the Koala

When I arrived at the airport to fly to NZ on 22nd February I discovered a little stowaway in my bag. Not wanting to be left out Lil' Bear had decided to join me on my journey, afterall he said he'd never been to New Zealand! So who was I to refuse him?

Is this our plane?
Typical British weather, raining as we leave!

Hmm... a bit of a squash, certainly didn't want to sit here for long, especially with The Balancing Kiwi getting motion sick during the first half of the journey and spending a couple of hours with her head in paper bags! euwwyuk, too much information Lil Bear!

This is more like it - time for adventure!

Getting to know a new friend was fun as we spent lots of time cavorting in trees and shrubs. Benny the Koala was a new arrival - actually he too was a stowaway from Australia, having caught a ride with TC who came over to spend a few days with TBK in Kerikeri, luckily we hit it off straight away.

Uh Oh, who is this though - has Benny been arrested by Bob the PC?

It's looking possible. Did Bob follow Lil' Ted all the way from Hamley's Metropolitan Police Station in London in the hope of catching a fugitive?

Quick hide with me!

Grab my hand, but don't pull me in!

Is it too late?

Or has Benny the Koala managed to escape and hide?
Did he stay in NZ? Or did he swap places with Bob?
Who came back to England? Who returned to Australia?
You may well ask!

Conkers!

The wonders of Autumn when the day is crisp and clear and the sun is shining! Washing has been out on the line, piggies have all been cleaned out, veges collected and we've been on our walk with the dogs.

My meagre collection of conkers has grown from three:

To many more. I don't think big dog and hubby quite understood little dog and my fascination with trying to find some conkers!

The Explorer Returns

Our explorer scout arrived home safe and sound yesterday from his adventures in Swaziland. Unfortunately he had his camera stolen at Johannesburg airport so lost the majority of his photos, but fortunately he has been given copies of photos from his fellow scouts. He said it was 'amazing, truely amazing' and was certainly an experience of a lifetime. He was struck with our brown it was, and when he arrived home he said the grass was so vivid it looked like it had been painted! The visit to Kruger national park was fantastic, seeing all the wild animals in their natural habitat. I think he really enjoyed giving out all the goodies and playing ball with the orphans. It only rained once, but when it did it swamped the campsite!
